Join for a special celebration of the hugely popular series, 25 years on since Ann Cleeves’ first Vera Stanhope novel was published. In 2011, the best-selling series was adapted into a brilliant ITV crime drama with Brenda Blethyn in the title role.

Join Brenda and Ann as they talk about the latest book and final TV adaptation, ‘The Dark Wives’, and reminisce over their favourite scenes. They’ll be interviewed on stage by TV presenter Steph McGovern and joined by some special guests. It’s an unmissable chance for fans to bid a fond farewell to a much-loved show and celebrate one of crime fiction’s greatest detectives.

The City Hall has 6 seating areas available for every show for wheelchair users.  It is necessary for wheelchair seating to be booked in advance.  Please contact the box office on 0191 2612606.

Any customer booking a wheelchair seat will receive comprehensive information on access to the City Hall and it's facilities when booking.  Access to the box office is via College Street and is fully accessible.  There is no access to the Concert Bar and refreshment area for wheelchair users.  Where customers are unable to access these areas due to ambulatory difficulties, a drinks service is provided by the City Hall.  Members of staff are available and can take drink orders and arrange for then to be brought to the foyer/auditorium, on request.  There is no lift access to the balcony.  Accessible toilet available in the foyer.
